How to use your TSLASCAN Analyzer

From plugging in to a shareable report — about five minutes, no tools.

1 · First-time setup (connect it to Wi-Fi)

The analyzer uploads over Wi-Fi. Point it at your phone's hotspot or any nearby network once.
Fastest way — no setup at all: turn on your phone's hotspot named Free with password 12345678. Out of the box the analyzer connects to that network automatically — plug in and it's online. Perfect for checking many cars. The steps below are only needed if you prefer your own network.
Plug the analyzer into the car's diagnostic OBD-II port. The green LED lights up. It's listen-only — it never writes to the car.
On your phone, open Wi-Fi settings and join the network TSLASCAN — password 12345678.
Open a browser and go to http://192.168.4.1 (the setup page opens automatically on most phones).
Under WI-FI, pick your home or phone-hotspot network in Network and type its Password. (Leave Mode on Analyzer; use CAN logger only if support asks.)
Tap Save & Reboot. The device restarts, joins your Wi-Fi and starts streaming. Done — you only do this once per network.
Tip: the fastest option is your phone's personal hotspot — then the analyzer works anywhere you drive.

2 · Scan the car

Keep the analyzer plugged in. At the top of the report, Online and Data lamps turn green when it's streaming.
Park in P for a minute. This captures cell balance and the pack's true factory capacity (Beginning-of-Life) — needed for an exact State of Health.
Then drive a few minutes with a steady, firm pull (a highway on-ramp or a hill held at constant throttle). This captures internal resistance, per-cell sag under load, motor torque/power and thermals.
Open tslascan.com, enter the device code (the MAC shown on the setup page), or scan the QR on the device.

3 · Read the report

Every value is measured from the battery's own data — nothing estimated.

SOH & verdict

State of Health with a plain BUY / OK / AVOID verdict and a battery grade.

Odometer & tamper

Cross-checks the mileage against the pack's own energy history to catch a rollback.

3D cell map + live graph

All 96 cells — height is voltage, colour is sag under load. A weak cell stands out.

Under-load health

Internal resistance (DCIR), cell sag and the worst cell — signals a seller can't hide at rest.

Drive units & thermal

Motor torque/power (AWD or RWD), and battery + powertrain coolant temperatures.

History & trend

SOH over time, balance at each charge level, and whether a weak cell is getting worse.

For the exact SOH, make sure you parked in P at least once (that's when the factory capacity is broadcast). For clean under-load numbers, give it a steady pull rather than short 0-100 stabs.

4 · Deep logging (optional)

Flip the REC switch at the bottom-right of the report to record every scan to a downloadable .jsonl log — right from the web page, no extra software. Useful for testing across models or sending data to support.

5 · Desktop app & CAN logger

For advanced users: a free Windows app that receives the analyzer's live stream on your PC.

The TeslaAnalyzer desktop app shows the live data on your computer, records logs, and decodes captures locally. Pair it with the device's CAN logger mode (set Mode → CAN logger on the 192.168.4.1 setup page) to capture the raw CAN bus — the full-fidelity trace we use to add support for new models and diagnose glitches.

Download and run TeslaAnalyzer.exe (Windows, no install).
On the device portal set Mode → CAN logger and point its Wi-Fi at the same network as your PC.
The app receives the stream — watch live values or press record to save a trace for analysis.
